Compare a reference conversion with a provider quote
Compare a dated ECB reference conversion with a separately stated provider rate, while keeping the rate difference distinct from fees.
A hypothetical quote comparison
For a hypothetical USD 1,000 amount, EUR-relative reference inputs EUR=1 and USD=1.20 convert USD 1,000 to EUR 833.33. If a provider separately quotes 1 USD = 0.80 EUR, the same amount is EUR 800 before any separately stated charges. The EUR 33.33 difference is a comparison between rates, not a provider fee calculation or a current quote. The converter can model a user-supplied conversion rate; it does not retrieve transfer quotes or charges.
Hypothetical USD 1,000 converts to EUR 833.33 at the reference inputs and EUR 800 at a provider rate of 0.80. The EUR 33.33 difference is not a fee calculation.

The converter uses dated daily reference data when available. Its rate calculation divides the target currency's EUR-relative rate by the source currency's EUR-relative rate, then multiplies by the entered amount. With USD at 1.20 per EUR and EUR at 1, USD 1,000 × (1 ÷ 1.20) = EUR 833.33 when rounded to cents. Check the effective date shown with the result: this informational reference is not a live executable quote.
Enter a separately stated rate
To model a provider quote, select the same source and target currencies, enter the amount, enable the custom conversion rate, and enter the provider's stated rate in target units per one source unit. For 1 USD = 0.80 EUR, USD 1,000 × 0.80 = EUR 800. The tool labels this as a user supplied rate. It does not fetch provider offers, transfer charges, spreads, or fees.
Interpret the comparison carefully
Subtracting EUR 800 from EUR 833.33 gives EUR 33.33. This is the difference between two modeled conversion results for the same hypothetical amount. It is not necessarily a fee: the provider's displayed rate may already reflect pricing, and separately stated fees can affect the final received amount. Compare like-for-like amounts, currencies, timing, and disclosed charges; do not present the difference alone as total cost.
Limits and checks
The displayed converted result is rounded to two decimal places; the rate detail is shown to six. Reference rates can be older or unavailable, and the tool reports the effective date or feed status. A custom rate is manual input and is not independently verified. Confirm the provider's quote and any separate fees directly with that provider. This comparison is educational and does not establish which option is suitable.
